Maleen Dalan is a 2009 graduate of the Esmod Oslo school of Fashion Design and her graduate collection of S/S 2010 menswear is absolutely stunning. Named ‘Hermaphoditus’ the subject is Gender Confusion and it is incredible. Bringing traditionally feminine shapes and materials onto the male form she has gently brought menswear, as she rightly claims, avant-garde.
Current TV’s music program Embedded is currently featuring Mos Def on tour in Japan performing his latest album “The Ecstatic” released in the summer of 2009. One of the most interesting things about this look into Mos Def is his strongly evident belief that as an artist without an audience his work is incomplete. The audience completes the artistic process; regardless of their connection to him through culture, race or language. His art transcends those boundaries bringing normally quiet and seated Japanese crowds to their feet and dancing in the aisles. Special thanks to my friend Andy Chiu for posting this on his facebook page. (video below)

Not only is the material beautiful and full of intricate details, it has a 5 year development history that led to the creation of both a men’s and women’s collection.
