Visiting New York is exciting for any cocktail zealot and with more and more places opening all over the town there hasn’t been a better time to go. Over the last couple of years exclusivity has gone beyond the 50 person snaking queue and a lot of the new-school drinking dens are trying to hide from the masses. Like Bar Tausend in Berlin APOTHEKE (meaning “pharmacy” in German) lies behind a disguised façade down an uninviting and largely unknown (even by taxi drivers) lane. I was caught by surprise when my friend and guide walked towards and opened up a large dark wooden door sandwiched between two dark grilled windows.
