In celebration of the Five Two 3 collection renowned Stencil Artist Pochoir has transformed No6 into an art space for the month of December. Sitting alongside his signature ‘Pochoir x Superstar’ artists commissioned to produce work for the show include El Cartel (Spain), Claroscuro (UK), Ludo (France) Kenneth Chung (UK & Germany) and FarkFK (UK).
Having been on site during the final stages of one installation in 2008 (trying to find some pictures that I took…will post them when I find them) I know how hard it is to work in here. The space is tiny! Congrats go out to Pochoir and whomever worked in here, looks awesome.
From the inside out you can see how narrow this space is. So where do you put the shoes? Up on the phone lines! Nostalgic.
Looking into the back of the store I get the feeling that this must have been such a fun installation. Imagine the artist in there working. Planing, stenciling, spraying, pasting posters and other mixed media up on the walls, hanging cutouts, running the lines, tossin’ up the shoes.
It’s nice to see the No6 being used as an exhibition space because trying to squeeze retail and selling space out of here is a real challenge. The last PopUp here was really strange (it was Jeremy Scott, more on that another time) and I really think that this is a much better use of the space. Hey, you can still drive some sales out of here but don’t push it…enjoy the artwork on the walls and leave with some artwork on your feet instead.
